American Revolution Uniforms
British
All British mercenaries are loyal to the king, they were known as Loyalists. The British wore red uniforms during the American Revolution. The British wore red for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that if they were shot the blood will not show. This helped the soldier mentally because when they saw someone get shot and killed they did not panic with all the blood around them. The uniforms made the British stick out in the frontier and on the battle field. The red uniforms makes it them easier targets for the American sharpshooters to find and target them.
American
The American Patriots were the American soldiers during the American Revolution. There was a lot of smoke on the battle field so the Americans would wear blue, and a bright yellow on their hats. The Americans did this because you could only see a few yards in front of you, and they wanted the soldiers to be able to see the difference between ally and enemy. The uniforms also had brown so the soldiers are disguised when there are battle on the frontier. The Americans designed their uniforms so they stay hidden, and see the difference between allies and enemies. The American citizens would enlist in the army because they were fighting for their freedom, and their homes.
American Sharpshooters
Americans developed a new type of soldier during the Revolutionary War. This soldier changed history. They're name was the American Sharpshooter. They dressed in brown clothes, brown hate, and covered their faces and skin in mud. They were completely hidden in the forest. They blended in with the trees and leaves, and occasionally covered themselves in leaves, moss, and mud. They introduced the first guerrillas into warfare. Introducing these soldiers was a turning point in the war. The British would travel in large regiments making it easy for the Sharpshooters to spot out them. The sharpshooters would rendezvous up the road, and wait for the British to show up.
American Espionage
The American Espionage was a civilian spy. Without the espionage it would have been so much harder how the Americans to communicate throughout the war. They are normal civilians that would live in loyalist occupied cities such as New York. They would listen to Red Coat conversations, and write down what they said in invisible ink. The invisible ink could only be seen after adding a special mixture of chemicals on to the paper. The message would show up, and the receiver could read it. They would put the message inside a box that they would carry in to the woods and bury it. The person who is going to receive it would pick up the message in a couple of days, and inform George Washington. If the espionage was caught they were charged with treason, which is punishable by death.
French Uniforms
The British tried to fight a battle by sea, because the Americans did not have enough boats. The French decided to join the Americans because they hated the British. They also believed that the Americans were winning the war. The French had a large navy. So the British were forced to fight a war on land and sea. The Americans dominated the land with their new sharpshooters, and muskets. The French Navy were able to take care of the British. If the French did not join in the Americans would have lost the war at sea. After the Battle of Saratoga the French joined and gave us money, supplies, and uniforms. The French wore blue uniforms. That is why the Americans wore blue uniforms during the Revolutionary War.
Hessians
The Hessians are hired German mercenaries during the American Revolution. The British hired these professional soldiers to fight in the war. They wore fancy gold and white helmets. They wore blue coats with white undershirts with golden buttons. They were not enough to help the British win the war. Hessians carried around the average musket with a bayonet on the end. They were well payed and well armed soldiers. The Hessians were hired as soon as the French joined the American side.
